Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou is the poem I chose because I think every woman should see themeselves the same way she describes in the poem. In the first poem she explains that she is not perfect and does not have a perfect body but she is still a phenomenal woman. Every woman should be happy with their body and the way that they look. I think that in today’s society people are so worried about their appearance that they forget about the inner beauty because beauty today is only skin deep. It’s not only with women. Men are also overly concerned about their appearance as well. Everyone should be more accepting other people’s and their own appearance. It should not matter what someone looks like. The important thing is how a person feels and thinks.
This is a powerful poem of inner serenity, quiet strength, and, pride in personal accomplishment. It is a poem that celebrates the epitomization of womanhood – what the woman is. Yes indeed, a phenomenal woman is the one that is organized, intelligent, poised and simple. There is strength in gentleness, pride in simplicity, and beauty in plainness. The strength of a lioness is tempered with her cubs, the pride of a lamb is its gentleness, and the beauty of the Madonna lies in its ingenuity.
So people, “apply yourselves to be who ‘you’ admire most” – for the purpose of clarity – be who you dream of; for when you are, you can’t help but move with the confidence of knowing you are the best – and people automatically sense that in you and treat you as such too.
Adios for now.

i agree with the poem and the way you have paraphrased the poem.Everyone in this world long for good appearance and in the pursuit of good looks, they have gone through many surguries which instead worsen their natural beauty.so it is better to accept what god has given us and be content with that.
